Describes departure of Daniel and Ann Halfpenny from Belfast via Dublin for Plymouth; the voyage from Plymouth to Melbourne on the Orient, 11 Aug.-13 Dec. 1840; a detailed account of his time as an agricultural labourer working for William Piper at 'Pastoria', a run east of Kyneton, Dec. 1840-March 1843; and much briefer accounts of working for Alfred Langhorne at 'Laverton', Nov. 1843-Jan. 1846, and for Major William Firebrace, probably at 'Vectis', June 1846-[June] 1847.
